Project Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Graduate Opportunity

Bradford, West Yorkshire

Up to £24,000 plus Bonus

Our client has been manufacturing precision section wire for over 50 years. They were acquired the largest wire manufacturer in the world. They produce a wide range of precision section, flat and trapezoidal wire using it’s cold drawing, hot rolling and cold rolling expertise gained over the years. There wire is used extensively in several different industries including the oil and gas industry, the automotive industry and the power generation industry.

They currently have an exciting opportunity for Graduate Trainee to work closely alongside their design team as a Project Engineer. This is a challenging opportunity to take cutting edge techniques into traditional hands on design methods, taking away the black art from this highly complex issue and making the process open and logical. The main purpose of this role is to develop databases for process parameters in order to provide predictive drafting abilities. Within this role, your main responsibilities will include installation, development, management and operation of FEA software, integrating this project into the design process. You will be expected to offer innovation solutions to design problems and liaise with colleagues responsible for product design.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent in mechanical engineering and will have a good understanding of the theory and mechanics of elastic/plastic deformation, finite element analysis in metal forming, manufacturing techniques for tooling production and experience of cold and hot deformation tool design. It is essential that you are computer literate and preferably able to use CAD systems. You should be creative with excellent problem solving skills and fluency in any foreign language would be an advantage but is not essential.
