Glanbia Cheese is the leading mozzarella manufacturer in Europe. Join our state-of-the art mozzarella manufacturing site in Anglesey and take the lead as a Production Manager of our whey department. You’ll take responsibility for the department, manager and lead a team of 8 operatives and ensure that we achieve safe, efficient and profitable results.

As a Production Manager you will provide the business with expert knowledge of our products and the processes involved. You’ll be leading the development of the department and taking ownership and for the performance and standards across all aspects of the operation.

You’ll be engaging with staff and implementing procedures to ensure the highest level of quality and ensuring a safe working environment. In short, you’ll be ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness and minimising downtime and risks.

Your duties will include varied tasks such as:

  • Develop a culture of engagement through involvement of all Operators in the department
  • Plan, monitor and develop Operator training
  • Proactively support the on-going development of safety and a safety culture
  • Ensure that accidents and incidents are thoroughly investigated and escalated
  • Ensure that the standards required by the auditing bodies are adhered to on a daily basis
  • Use 5 Whys to investigate, identify root causes of problems and put in place preventative measures
  • Eliminate the various wastes through the use of various tools such as LEAN
  • Ensure awareness of site environmental standards
  • Ensure that Whey department processes operate in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001 and the Integrated Pollution Prevention Control licence
  • Provide constructive Challenge and Support within the Site Management Team to help drive site development

  • You’ll be an excellent communicator with strong people management and coaching skills
  • You’ll have experience of working in a similar manufacturing environment and you’ll be motivated by quality and achievement of objectives
  • You’ll be a strong problem solver who takes responsibility for continuous improvement
  • You’ll have a degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Food Production, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing, Health and Safety, or Food Technology
  • You’ll have flexibility to work in a 24 hour 7 day manufacturing site
  • Due to the location and shift pattern it’s important that you have a full driving license or access to alternative transport
  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing techniques and NEBOSH is desirable but not essential
