Job Summary

KP Technology Ltd based in Wick, Caithness, is recruiting for a graduate for a 12 month Physics/Material Science role. The successful graduate will be tutored in the capabilities of the current equipment range and the materials research to which is it applied.

Job Description

This position requires a candidate who enjoys working systematically and has good documentation and presentation skills. The candidate will join an active and dynamic research and development team and will be given opportunities to expand their capabilities.

The successful graduate will be trained in in-house surface analysis techniques including scanning Kelvin probe, surface photovoltage spectroscopy, air photoemission spectroscopy, light spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy.

The candidate will assist in analysis of client test samples and will contribute to our materials research program to enhance equipment analysis capabilities using optical, electronic and mechanical methods.

The graduate will contribute to production and testing of our equipment range. They will be involved in equipment design and will be trained to provide technical support, system installation and client training for our clients worldwide. The candidate will help maintain our websites and introduce videos training for clients.

Note: KP Technology offers all new staff a 3 month trial period. Candidates who clearly demonstrated their suitability over this period will be offered a further 9 month extension. After the initial year successful accomplishment of is likely to be rewarded with a full-time offer of employment.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

• Hands-on experience in electronics or experimental physics/ materials science
• Practical skills (however training will be given)
