PCT Group sales has an opportunity for a graduate to work as a Document Controller for a high level project. This is a 12 month placement with an opportunity of converting to a permanent role.

Project Description

Due to the continued development of PCT Group Sales there is an exciting opportunity for a Document Controller to join PCT at our offices in Glasgow.

Project: TOTAL DUNBAR offshore platform.

Scope: Given the corrosive environment of the cranes manufactured by PCT they have a strict life expectancy. The cranes on the TOTAL DUNBAR offshore platform have a life expectancy of approximately 20 years, these cranes have reached this limit and therefore must undergo refurbishment.

Project Objectives: There are three cranes that must undergo refurbishment, consequently the project consists of three phases: a phase for each crane. The objectives will be the same for each as outlined:

1. Assess extent of crane corrosion.

2. In conjunction with client reach an agreement of necessary refurbishments (vary with each crane (phase)).

3. Make necessary changes to crane to ensure safe use and increased life expectancy.

4. Improve crane as a result of new and improved technology over past 20 years.

Role Description

The documentation Controller will be fully responsibility for the submission and retrieval of all documents relating to this said project.

Primarily the Document Controller will produce a schedule of submission for all project documents which adheres to the client’s specification. The Documentation Controller will maintain this schedule by creating the relevant documents for approval by our client. The Document Controller will work closely with the engineers on the project to ensure all drawings etc supplied by them complies with specified client formats, templates and standards. The Documentation Controller must have an awareness of all necessary procedures to ensure that Document Management is carried out at optimum effectiveness.

Skills / Experience


-          Experienced and proficient in the use of IT including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

-          Confident in the use of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

-          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

-          Excellent time management and organisation skills.

-          It is important to have sound attention to detail.

-          Strong organisational skills.


-          Experienced and proficient with the use of Creo (Pro Engineer), AutoCAD, Solidworks.

-          An ability to use own initiative is beneficial as the role requires a lot of direct work with clients without supervision.



-          Any degree.


-          A degree with a background in Engineering would be favourable to ensure knowledge in the documents being dealt with as a Documentation Controller within an engineering firm.


A graduate within PCT will have the opportunity to work with highly experience engineers. This experience will guarantee the graduate gains a comprehensive understanding in material handling equipment which is invaluable in the prominent oil and gas industry. Further the graduate will have the opportunity of working with an experienced Document Controller who will train them and initially assist them with the completion of the documents required for a project.
