Job Description

Working as part of the procurement team the successful Packaging Purchasing Assistant will report directly into the Packaging Development & Procurement Manager and be responsible for supporting all packaging and purchasing projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of trackers (NPD tracker, sample requests, packaging supplier database, price lists and tracker) ensuring information is accurate and maintained so always in place for timely launches and product development
  • Request, track and manage samples
  • Carry out packaging and supplier sourcing, reviews, as well as benchmarking to evaluate cost,  service, quality, continuous improvements as well as arrange visits and presentations
  • Daily liaising and keeping up to date with a variety of contacts such as buyers, suppliers, internal departments and other teams within the business
  • Administration support such as; filing and scanning, administration of new line and supplier forms, issuing of supplier score cards and completion of new line and new supplier forms
  • MI support such as producing reports, tracking performance i.e. supplier performance

The Individual

  • Experience gained in a similar role with a background in packaging, purchasing, supply or development
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent (grades A – C)
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and influential skills
  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to multi-task, handle multiple projects and deadlines and able to work under pressure
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Excel (able to create spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables and macros) Outlook, Word, Powerpoint
