Orkney Tourism Group (OTG) is recruiting for a recent graduate for a Social Media and Marketing project.  The project will secure a new project position within OTG, which will have a specific role in working with industry to provide web and social media coaching, development and project support.

Job Description

Orkney Tourism Group (OTG) is recruiting for a recent graduate for a Social Media and Marketing project.  The project will secure a new project position within OTG, which will have a specific role in working with industry to provide web and social media coaching, development and project support. 

The purpose of the project is to help local tourism businesses:

-           Improve their online presence

-          Improve their online marketing approach

-          Improve linkage strategies

-          Improve Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) work

-          Improve Customer Relationship Marketing (CRM)

-           Increase social media marketing skills – understanding and using where appropriate Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn

Benefits to the wider destination:

-          Improve destination information

-          Improve specific destination itinerary

-          Improve online product availability

-          Improve online booking processes

Tasks will also involve:

-          Review Orkneys Tourism web presence, identifying gaps and opportunities for OTG’s own website and the local industry development.

-           Develop general understanding of OTG and local Tourism Industry

-          Invoke rollout plan, following input and approval from Board

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Skills / Experience

Essential:

-          Windows/Microsoft application usage skills

-          Specific e-marketing skills

-          Understanding of online technology

-          Understanding and proficiency in social media usage

-          Excellent interpersonal skills

-          Excellent administrator, organiser and report writer

-          General marketing / ICT background

-          Dynamic self-starter

-          Output/results driven

-          Excellent time management

-          Happy to work under own initiative and part of team.

-          Confident communicator

-          Full clean driving license

Desirable:

A degree in one of the following disciplines would be advantageous:

-          Tourism, Marketing, IT

Qualifications

-          Degree in relevant discipline.
