This KTP project offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate to launch a career in industry with the support of company and academic mentors.

Visioncare Research Ltd is a clinical research organisation specialising in the testing of ophthalmic medical devices such as contact lenses, contact lens care products and intraocular lenses (IOLs). Visioncare Research Ltd intend to expand through identifying new clients and therapeutic areas in which to operate, most notably cataract (IOL) and refractive surgery. This project will enable Visioncare Research Ltd to become a world leader in IOL clinical trial monitoring by offering a unique range of techniques for the delivery of quick and effective IOL studies. As a KTP associate on this project you will develop skills in interpreting scientific publications, and evaluating the opportunities for developing new techniques in IOL research. You will need to be organised and methodical in your conduct of technical evaluations. You will gain transferable clinical and research skills alongside the commercial knowledge of how to monitor and conduct clinical trials. This blend of scientific and commercial understanding is rare and would be attractive to future employers.
 
You will have considerable commercial exposure to users (patients), surgeons and manufacturers allowing you to develop a holistic understanding of the industry. In addition, you will gain skills in project management, presenting, report writing, business strategy and experience of working in a small and medium enterprise (SME) environment. You will also be encouraged to work towards fellowship of an appropriate professional organisation such as the British Contact Lens Association.
 
At the completion of the project there would be a high probability of either continued employment with the company or recruitment by a medical device manufacturer.
 
You should have a minimum 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Optometry and be a General Optical Council registered UK Optometrist. You will also have clinical experience post registration. You should be smartly dressed, clinically competent, personable, ambitious and innovative.
 
You will be employed by Aston University but will be based at Visioncare Research Ltd in Farnham, Surrey.
 
Please note the successful applicant will be required to undertake a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure.
