Manufacturing has a significant role to play in the company\'s future as we are constantly seeking ways of delivering consistent better quality and value to our customers - balancing a constant eye on profitability with our concern for the environment. Degree subject required We will consider applications from candidates with who have obtained or are studying for a degree in numerically based subject. These would include any all branches of engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc. Minimum Degree level required/preferred (n/a for industrial placements) Normally we would expect a degree classification of at least 2:1 though a 2:2 supported by exceptional A level grades would also be considered Location Initially at one of the manufacturing sites; Swansea, Atherstone, Aycliffe, Loughborough, Clitheroe, Bangor. Before settling to a permanent location at one of these sites, successful candidates must be mobile during the first year of employment. Department overview The role of the department is to provide a high calibre resource with analytical and problem solving skills combined with the drive and initiative to make a difference Job responsibilities In the first year of employment optimised operations engineers will be trained in Six Sigma techniques and will be assigned to projects where they will apply these skills along with those that they have already acquired. Opportunities for career progression At the end of their first year optimised operations engineers take up posts in permanent location at one of the company\'s plants in the locations stated above. These posts are usually in the Manufacturing Technology department where their main role is problem solving in a particular manufacturing area of the plant.Further career opportunities include advancement within both technical and managerial functions in manufacturing or other disciplines within the company Key skills and competencies Your degree type will need to be in a numerate discipline and this is prerequisite. You will also need to someone who enjoys working with others and can communicate well in a variety of situations. THIS POSITION STARTS SEPTEMBER 2005
