The SITEFORUM Group, a leader in Social Community Software, supplies the technology of the business portal. SITEFORUM combines powerful community features, CMS (Content Management System) including multilingualism with contact management, online marketing, search engine optimisation, intranet and extranet functions and many more.

We are looking for a graduate Online Developer to write code and script using a variety of languages to deliver various interactive features.  You will also be involved in developing, creating and linking databases to user interfaces so that information can be retrieved, stored and processed interactively. You will assist the senior online developer and work as part of the online presence team who are responsible for delivering an enhanced online presence.

During the recruitment process, you will be expected to demonstrate your capacity to understand the interface design concept and the ability to interpret and implement this technically within the constraints of the operational logic and business rules.

There would be a requirement for flexibility as regards to working hours, in that some evening and weekend work will be included.

In order to identify the most suitable candidates, part of the interview process will involve providing some working examples of interactive features you have developed.

Duties:

  • Working with the senior online developer and online presence manager on the implementation of the online presence project.
  • Ability to understand the design concept and ability to interpret and implement technically within constraints of the operational logic and business rules.
  • Sorting out operational logic and business rules that are necessary for the feature to be reproduced correctly according to the senior online programmer and online presence manager’s specifications.
  • Writing efficient computer code or script using a variety of languages to make the various features work, ensuring that sound, graphics, animations and timings function as intended and make good use of processing and data storage capacity.
  • Creating and linking databases to the user interface so that information can be retrieved, stored and processed interactively via the application.
  • Writing HTML or similar input and using authoring packages where appropriate to create content and effects.
  • Running tests of the application to identify bugs which need to be rectified.
  • Solving the problems by re-writing the code or adding new code which works around the problem.
  • Providing technical support to an application once it is running and making further adaptations, patches or rewrites to the code.

Working Hours:

35 hours per week, duration 11 weeks. Week 12 comprises professional training of a 2 day induction and a 3 day final training event

High Wycombe, Bucks

Key skills required:

Successful completion of at least the 3rd year of an appropriate degree or relevant professional qualification.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Information security
  • Excellent knowledge in database driven web-based software applications
  • Solid knowledge and experience in: JSP, ASP, PHP or similar
  • Solid knowledge and experience in: HTML, XHTML, XML, Javascript, AJAX, JQuery
  • Solid knowledge and experience in: SQL (MYSQL).

  • Good inter-personal skills
  • Ability to communicate with inexperienced users
  • Good written communications
