Northburn Industrial Services Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a graduate to help with the Installation, Commissioning, Operational Parameters and Process Improvement of their new treatment water plant. The graduate will work closely with the Group Engineering Manager and other staff to analyse and identify efficiencies within the plant and procedures. This is a 12 month placement based at NIS, Coatbridge Facility.

Northburn Industrial Services Ltd (NIS) has developed new processes and procedures for their three main production plant areas; it is now focused on additional environmental process improvement and have decided to install a new treatment water plant.

The new plant will increase the quality and safety of water discharge (treated) into the sewer system (environmental protection). The plant will contribute to a reduction in process waste (to be calculated when operating) and will provide a number of benefits:-

  • Reduction in wasted effort and costs with an increase in contribution to utilities improvements
  • A reduction in staff stress and an increase in customer satisfaction
  • Increase in environmental control and specification with an increase in quality standards.

The planned deliverables on completion of the project:

  • An increase in the sites production capacity (product volume) of the site and improved environmental management practice
  • An increase in the quality of discharge to sewer and an increase in the reuse of water within system process
  • An increase in the development of best practice and through the project implementation support to develop new parameters for the operation, contributing to cycle time improvement – productivity.

Role Description

The Process Improvement Analyst, Graduate Placement will be responsible for the Water Plant Installation, Commissioning and Operational Parameters, reporting to the Group Engineering Manager and will be based at NIS, Coatbridge Facility. The main tasks will include:

  • To provide assistance and project management of water treatment unit installation
  • To provide development of the operation and the agreement of process and parameters of the unit
  • To liaise with Laboratory Senior Analyst on the testing and parameters and the development of best practice for the unit
  • To provide support to the Group Engineering Manager on associated work packages
  • Additionally the daily Sampling ,Testing and setting of parameters for the water plants operation and the analysis of results and the required alterations to improve plants operations.

Long-term, the gradaute will be expected to provide development of the operation and the agreement of process and parameters of the unit and to liaise with Laboratory Senior Analyst on the testing and parameters and the development of best practice for the unit including the provision of a support service for the continued operation of the plant at the Coatbridge facility.

  • Oil Recycling and Waste Industry experience
  • Basic Laboratory testing skills
  • Proficiency in most Microsoft office packages, especially Excel
  • A sense of humour.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Equivalent

Ideal

  • Degree in Waste Management or related discipline
