New Start Highland Enterprises

Role Description

New Start Highland Enterprises in Inverness are recruiting for a recent marketing graduate to develop a marketing plan, increase awareness of New Start’s services and strengthen its brand in the Highland area, leading to increased service usage, sales and a strengthened supporter base. This exciting 12 month project will also review and develop key communication channels, ensuring there is integrity and consistency in the messages communicated to stakeholders, and be a key resource to facilitating the delivery of the marketing plan.

The role will involve:

  • To ensure marketing activities are delivered to budget
  • To facilitate and deliver promotional ideas in line with the marketing plan
  • To assist in maximising and reporting of online activities
  • To plan, deliver and report on marketing campaigns
  • To review and improve the presentation, clarity and messaging of the current New Start Highland website
  • To develop new websites based on marketing and advertising new commercial services such as facilities management, retail and ecommerce
  • To analyse and research existing and new markets/customers
  • To assist in achieving the target of creating a self funded organisation through helping to execute the marketing plan
  • To assist in ensuring a high standard of customer service is delivered
  • To work within the values of the organisation

As part of the TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme in the Highlands and Islands, the candidate will benefit from support from a team within Highlands and Islands Enterprise and also access training focussed on employability and business skills, including a five day residential course.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Skills and Qualifications


  • To demonstrate a thorough understanding of marketing principles and processes
  • To have a working knowledge of social media and websites
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal (including presentations)
  • Ability to work with the Leadership team to develop key messages and ensure these are communicated effectively to stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate clearly, with good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise multiple projects and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to research and analyse market trends and demands
  • Ability to plan and deliver projects
  • The ability to deliver excellent customer service and generate new ideas and initiatives
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • To have a marketing qualification
  • Experience delivering projects, on their own or as part of a team
  • A clear understanding of the organisation and willingness to live up to its values and aspirations
  • Versatile, flexible and driven
  • Comfortable interacting with people from all backgrounds
  • Progressive attitude to learning and an ongoing willingness to adapt and change as the organisation evolves


  • A knowledge of the social enterprises in Scotland

Other services offered include removals, storage, painting and decorating, a bike workshop, cleaning, facilities management, and horticulture and landscaping.
