Market Analyst / Graduate Analyst

Leeds, West Yorkshire

Salary £20,000 to £24,000 dependent on experience

Our client is a leading European energy group and the 5th largest supplier of gas in the world today, with a presence in 33 countries, serving 15 million customers. They active in every aspect of the gas industry, from exploration and production, trading and transmission, to services, distribution and supply. They entered the UK gas market in 1999 and the UK electricity market in 2002.

In the UK, our client focuses on large industrial and commercial business customers and has built a market share of almost 10% to date. The UK turnover in 2005 was in excess of £1 billion with significant growth planned in 2006. 170 people are employed by the company in Leeds.

As a Market Analyst you will be responsible for the operation and development of analytical models to assist in strategy decisions with regard to the purchase and sale of gas and electricity. Assisting in the development and analysis of our client’s Commercial Strategy, you will develop management information reporting, the building and running of ad hoc reports and deliver specific analytical projects. At all times you will develop and maintain relationships with other parts of the Group. (E.g. sales, marketing, trading teams etc)

The successful candidate will have excellent numeric and IT skills and must be fluent in common MS packages. An inquisitive, analytical mind with good problem solving skills, you will be a self-starter with drive and initiative and be an active team player with strong communication skills.

A good degree in a numerate discipline is essential, with previous modelling and energy pricing experience an advantage.
