Job summary

Strathspey Railway Company Ltd (SRC) is recruiting for a graduate for a 12 month management development role. The successful graduate will be responsible for identifying, mapping and documenting the key SRC processes both that interface with the public and internally.

Job Description

Using the information gathered, the graduate will identify opportunities for improvement and, working with the relevant line Directors, create and monitor action plans to enable these improvements to be delivered.

A new board has recently been elected and places a priority on achieving improvements to the business. The identified activities would be incorporated in the SRC business plan which the successful graduate would contribute to and co-ordinate.

Tasks will involve:
• Identify and map key SRC processes
• Identify and prioritise opportunities for improvement
• Develop action plans with the relevant line Director (and team)
• Implement a progress monitoring update tool
• Co-ordinate SRC Business Plan inputs and production

Success will be measured by improving the predictability of timetabled service, the excellence of the customer experience, volunteer satisfaction and safety on a measurable basis.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

• Analytic thinker
• Fact based decision maker
• Ability to assess information and identify possible courses of action
• Ability to document and verbally reason arguments
• Degree in relevant discipline
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple people interfaces with varying levels of intellectual/verbal skills
• Some process development skills/understanding
• Some engineering (preferably mechanical) experience
