This KTP project offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate to launch a career with the support of charity and academic mentors.
The Macular Disease Society is a specialist charity for people affected by any form macular disease. The Macular Disease Society has 16,000 members, a busy helpline and counselling service and 235 local support groups nationally. It sponsors research into treatments, quality of life issues, cures and campaigns for access to treatments and services.

The KTP Associate will develop resources that will support the education of patients and eye care practitioners about nutrition for age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Clinical trials have reported that taking an appropriate nutritional supplement during the early stages of AMD could reduce the risk of progression to blindness by up to 25%, and so the Macular Disease Society has identified the need to inform patients, eye care professionals and policy makers on the impact of nutritional supplementation.
