Role Description
The objective of the project is to provide a graduate with experience of a Technical Support role in a small software house. He/she will develop key skills in technical areas such as Windows Server configuration and network maintenance, database concepts and customer management. The graduate will also provide our customers ( and at times staff) with a high quality of support.
You will work directly within the team whilst liaising closely with the Programming team and Project Management team to understand customer’s issues with as view to solve them.
With colleagues support you will be responsible for the first line support of in-house software and possibly some general IT support.
Day to day roles will entail taking phone calls, gaining and noting an understanding of client’s issues and recording into a IT system. Following up this initial triage process by tracking these calls and fixing where appropriate.
We offer both telephone support of our clients operations and direct ‘hands on’ via Teamviewer and Logmein and will be dealing mainly with Window’s client environments and using skills such as SQL and database handling to solve customer problems.
Training will be given and this is an opportunity for someone to make a difference and help the organisation grow. It should be noted that the environment is challenging as national and international logistics can be a high pressure environment delivering everything you buy (and much you don’t) to everywhere you buy it.
As part of the TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme, the candidate will benefit from support from a team within Scottish Enterprise and will have access to training.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- Graduate in Computing or Business
- Understanding of basic problem-solving techniques and logic
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional telephone manner
- Familiarity with Windows Client and Server environments
- Basic knowledge of database technologies and concepts
- Customer service skills
Ideal:
- Knowledge of network maintenance

Clydebuilt is a privately owned software house operating in the Warehousing and Logistics market space.
It is a small company of 16 staff, recently bought out by management team and now aggressively moving forward. We have ambitions to be a major player in the mid level logistics business and we operate mainly in Third Party Logistics, Manufacturing and distribution sectors. We recently bought in a small company operating in the traffic management space to positively add to the breadth of our platform. We are just about to bring out a totally web –based front end to our warehousing software also an e-fulfilment addition which will enable new market sectors.
As a small business, we operate a loose-tight management style where, over time, a very real level of autonomy is offered. It is an environment where, especially if asked, colleagues will be more than happy to both assist and impart real know how both of the industrial environment in which we work and the technical issues of helping, often non- technical, customer’s staff.
We currently have a wide range of clients from small Third Party Logistics (3PL) to Blue Chip, such as Mitsubishi, Jordans Ryvita, Crown Pet Foods, Belvoir Foods, Denholm Shipping. Even in the current economic climate, the company is growing the number of projects it is winning and executing and we believe that this is a great time to join our team.
