Health & Safety Coordinator (QHSE Officer)

Barry, Glamorgan

Circa £20,000 (With 6 Month Appraisal)

Our client has an unrivalled reputation for quality and efficiency in the logistics industry. The company provide customers with cost effective solutions for the safe transportation of goods and materials and guarantee 'duty of care' through their wood waste management service. With sites across the UK, they combine the volume savings of a national organisation and the presence of a local supplier.

There is currently an exciting opportunity for a QHSE Coordinator to join the team in Barry. The purpose of this role will be to lead and administer a proactive approach to quality, health, safety and environmental matters on site.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the group HSE policies in order to create a safe working environment for all employees on site and will potentially progress to coordinating regional initiatives. You will initiate a training programme and ensure compliance throughout the site, providing coaching and advice for the Management Team and Production Staff. It will be your duty to lead and coordinate all internal HSE communication and initiatives, promoting a proactive accident prevention approach and minimising the impact of any new legislation and modifications.

Facilitating and administering incident investigation, reporting systems and Risk Assessments will be key to this role. You will also be expected to ensure that all pallets meet with quality control standards and to lead annual initiatives to reduce any environmental impact.

Capable, assertive and enthusiastic, you will be willing to learn and grow within the position taking on board culture change, whilst being receptive to employee concerns.

The successful candidate will have experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing / engineering multi-site operation. It is essential that you hold a NEBOSH certificate, although a diploma is preferred. Familiarity with Six Sigma techniques and continuous improvement implementation will also be advantageous.

Our client is looking for a self motivated individual who is keen to develop in this diverse role. Full training will be provided for the right candidate after the completion of a 3 month probationary period.
