A Work Experience placement abroad is a unique way to observe experts in your field and learn how they work in different countries. The experience you gain will be invaluable to you in the future and very different to what you're used to. We consult with you regarding your specific requirements to ensure you gain the maximum benefit and experience from the placement.

We have numerous placements where you can help those who can’t help themselves – it’s immensely satisfying and expands your understanding of a different culture and some of the hardships in life.

We have nursing projects in hospitals, orphanages, social work and care centres, and our objective is always to help the local community. We also have a variety of Medical placements available where you could work in a hospital, clinic or teaching hospital, in any one of a number of departments.

Travellers Worldwide has exciting projects in 20 countries. Our Medical Internships are located in Ghana, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Zambia.

Working in the health sector in the developing world is a real challenge. Observe experts in your field and learn how they work in GHANA. We have a variety of Medical placements available in Ghana. You could work in a hospital, clinic or teaching hospital, in any one of a number of departments. If your interest is nursing, we have a number of institutions who would appreciate your help.

For social, cultural, but mainly economic reasons, people don’t seek medical attention until their condition is incredibly advanced or they are serious pain. Coupled with poor health and sanitary provisions, medics in these countries are faced with conditions that we don’t see in the West.

This project will allow you to gain experience in medicine, or simply to challenge yourself in a friendly environment where your assistance is really needed. We work at a variety of medical centres in Antigua and the surrounding area, all of which are open to the general public and designed to support people living in extreme poverty. Some clinics are staffed by a single Doctor only, and your help here is very badly needed. At other clinics, you may visit homes in the community to help provide medical care. These clinics are run entirely free of charge for patients who cannot afford to pay, and are generally funded by donors alone.

Our Medical Work Experience placements are based in the delightful bustling city of Madurai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. We work with many different hospitals and clinics which have a variety of departments. All of our medical placements work extensively with the local community and all have excellent facilities. Some of the clinics where we work offer free services to the poor and needy of Madurai; and one clinic visits a local church once a week to treat the underprivileged. They also hold a free clinic once a month and they are inundated with patients.

This placement is situated in the vibrant cosmopolitan coastal city of Mombasa, working at the Portreitz District Hospital. This is a poor facility that caters to a very poor community. You'll get a good general feel of the Hospital by working and/or observing in most departments.

You will be involved in aspects of the day-to-day running of the hospitals, observing or directly assisting, where possible. You can help out in simple but practical ways, vastly increasing your own knowledge and understanding of medical practice. As a volunteer your work may take you into all departments (depending on which hospital you're placed in), e.g. surgery, burns unit, ICU, Physiotherapy, X-ray, and even the mortuary to name just a few. However, if you're not qualified, you won't be allowed into operating theatres.

The hospital where you'll work is situated in a great location in Negombo. Whether your main interest is clinical or non-clinical sciences this hospital can offer you the experience you need. If you have not specialised yet, you will be able to gain an all-round experience of medicine, working in different departments and seeing the inner workings of a hospital.

Our medical placement is based about 30km outside of Livingstone town centre. The clinic is based on some farmland out in the bush in a fairly remote area which is currently being run by some American Missionaries. They have managed to convert one of the outbuildings into a medical centre and this enables them to do some tremendous work in helping the local communities.Although the clinic is fairly small the work is extremely beneficial to the local villagers. The clinic consists of 2 exam rooms, 1 private room for serious cases and two small wards with 3-4 beds in each, one for men and one for women.

  • An exciting, never-to-be-forgotten adventure into your chosen country and its culture.
  • New skills, more confidence, a greater understanding of a different culture, invaluable personal and professional development.
  • An entry on your CV or résumé that will put you head and shoulders above most others in the job market or in your application for Medical School
  • Invaluable medical experience and a fantastic insight into the workings of a hospital that’s totally different to what you’re used to at home.
  • And best of all ... an unforgettable experience!
