The Knockando Woolmill Company Ltd. is based in northeast Scotland and has been manufacturing woollen textiles continuously since 1784. It is recognised as a unique part of Scotland’s manufacturing heritage and was awarded significant funding for its restoration. The Woolmill seeks to minimise its impact on the environment throughout its sourcing and manufacturing processes whilst staying true to its heritage and traditions.

Job summary

Knockando Woolmill based near Aberlour, Moray, are recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month Web Development role.  The Project will provide the Company with a robust framework from which it can develop its web presence, including increasing traffic on the online store, promoting events and training courses as well as promoting the visitor centre.

Job Description

Knockando Woolmill an historic blanket, tweed and yarn producer based near Aberlour, Moray, are recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month Web Development role.  The Project will provide the Company with a robust framework from which it can develop its web presence, including increasing traffic on the online store, promoting events and training courses as well as promoting the visitor centre.

The graduate will also be required to undertake the following tasks:

•        Develop and expand existing databases into the various sectors, e.g. on-line shoppers, visitors, Friends and education.

•        Identify and develop methods of contacting the groups in order to keep the Woolmill profile high, e.g. newsletters, special offers, use of social media, weekly things of interest at the Mill from what we are weaving of spinning this week to when the first swallows returned, announcement of events, feedback from events, shoppers, visitors, etc.

•        Develop e-templates for these tasks so that Company staff can use these post-Project.

•        Provide a calendar of e-activity so that Company staff can use these post-Project.

•        Liaising with product developers, keep on-line store up to date, using photography and product descriptions for new lines, removing old lines.

•        Develop and review special offers on store and at the Visitor Centre.

•        Investigate the best shipping terms and methods, including international shipping.

•        With other members of the Woolmill team, devise a review and evaluation methodology which will identify whether the Project has met its outcomes.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Skills / Experience

Essential:

•        Current IT skills

•        Graphic design skills using Mac based programmes

•        Photographic skills

•        Writing

•        Use of social media for promotional purposes

•        Work experience where IT and graphics skills used

•        Good communication skills

•        Work with as a team and individually

•        Imaginative

•        Able to generate and harness ideas into company outcomes

•        Self motivated

•        Own transport

Desirable:

•        Textiles and or visitor centre experience

•        Designing, implementing and evaluating an e-marketing project.

•        Interest in heritage

•        Interest in textiles

Qualifications

•        Degree in relevant discipline.
