eCom Scotland, an award winning eLearning Company based in Dunfermline, Fife, are looking to increase their high performing Product development team. The team has a distinguished level of research and development focus into new Microsoft technologies, and have built an impressive portfolio of web application that offer a blended back-end technology solutions to many training providers around the globe. This is a fantastic 12 month opportunity to join a Microsoft Partner team, as graduate level web developer.

eCom Scotland are R&D focused, meaning that you will be able to develop a product in its life cycle and take ownership of products not just the coding.

As a Web developer, you will have knowledge in using the dynamic programming tools and languages that fuel the Web. You should be able to work independently or be part of a team that builds and integrates interactive Web sites, applications, and services for both internal and public sites. Your role is to make it work, which means developing Web applications and testing them on various browsers, enhancing and modifying them as necessary to ensure the best experience for the user.

Reporting to the Web Development Team Leader, you should also have an interest in architect websites, design data-driven applications, and find efficient client-server solutions. You must have an understanding of the software development lifecycle and be able to communicate project status, issues, and resolutions.

Key parts of the role will include the following:

  • Building rich web experiences with AJAX, JQuery
  • Experience working within agile teams
  • Experience in writing technical documents i.e. Software Design and Functional Specifications
  • Branched development with version control (SVN etc)
  • Experience with high traffic corporate facing websites.

This is a fantasic opportunity to work with an experienced team of developers and receive training in Microsoft products. You will have protected learning time to work towards exams.

Skills/Experience

Essential

The successful candidate will develop their existing skills in the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of asp.net
  • Knowledge of XHTML, CSS, Javascript
  • SQL Databases and SQL programming
  • Ability to work in a professional environment and to meet agreed deadlines
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.

 

Ideal

The right candidate will be able to learn on the job:

  • Building web applications with C#
  • Developing XML or JSON Web services
  • Solid foundation in developing n-tier applications and general OOP.

 

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree from any IT-related course.
