Job Description

Project objectives

Based in Livingston, near Edinburgh, Scotland, you will work in a strong team environment to develop high performance pre-silicon virtual platforms and models for use by top semiconductor companies worldwide. This will involve the modeling of leading edge IP, peripherals and embedded platforms based on Synopsys’ leading technology.

Role Description

The graduate will be involved in working in all aspects of modeling, contributing to Synopsys’ customer engagements and products.

Duties will include:

  • Developing SystemC transaction-level models based on customer specifications
  • Constructing virtual platforms from transaction-level models
  • Developing embedded software for validation of virtual platforms.




  • Excellent programming skills including practical usage of Java or C and C++
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.



  • Some hardware knowledge (Verilog, VHDL), or embedded systems experience, the ability to interpret device specifications
  • SystemC knowledge and previous transaction-level modeling experience are beneficial but not essential
  • Low-level embedded software skills, assembler knowledge is a bonus
  • Windows/Linux or embedded driver development knowledge is an advantage.



Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electronics or relevant discipline.

Start Month/Date: July/August 2013 but negotiable

Placement length: 6 months with a strong possibility of converting to a permanent role.
