EXPIRY NOTICE: This job has now expired and will not be accepting any more applications.

Aston Manor

You may be more familiar with our brands than you are with Aston Manor, but as the UK’s No.1 independent cider maker and the second largest producer in the UK our business is no small beer! We operate from three sites, the brewery and head office in Birmingham, extensive orchards and pressing facility in the Malvern Hills and a fermenting and bottling plant in Devon.

This is a phenomenal opportunity for a commercially minded graduate who can apply their passion and technical excellence from their food or science based degree to deliver innovative and exciting products for our customers. This role influences and touches all areas of our business.

You will need to: -

  • To develop the skills, capability and experience to have the potential to develop further within the business
  • Develop a partnership and advisory approach with our orchard growers to further develop the partnership to ensure quality and capacity demands are met.
  • Collaboratively work with our sales and marketing leads to develop innovative and exciting new products in line with our customer’s needs ie major multiples and discounters.
  • Develop and maintain new flavours in line with consumer and customer demand.
  • Develop sound commercial capability to align new product development with the commercial reality of the business.
  • Build an awareness of the environmental impact across all cider-making functions within the business.
  • Become a true business partner across the business functions i.e. manufacturing; sales & marketing; finance etc
  • With excellent communication skills you will be naturally inquisitive and questioning, vital qualities to have to fully understand the scope of your customers’ requirements. An understanding and interest of horticulture and agriculture would be useful but not essential.

In addition, we look for the following characteristics: -

  • A minimum of 2.2 at degree level in Chemistry, Food Science or related disciplines.
  • A consistently strong record of academic achievement.
  • Proactive – you look to figure things out when only limited information is available.
  • Innovative and resourceful – you can come up with a solution even with little experience.
  • A strong customer focus
  • Conscientious
  • Intellectually curious and possess insight
  • Presence – people find it easy to engage with you
  • Reliable and can work quickly
  • You relish ambiguity
  • You remain calm under pressure
  • A full driving Licence
