Job summary
Exciting opportunity for a graduate with a genuine “coding mindset” to get involved with the nitty-gritty of online marketing. You will be able to learn a lot as you try out new things to make us more efficient including improving data collection, redeveloping our own website, creating nifty web apps and becoming an expert in Google Analytics. This is a 12 month placement, based in Edinburgh with the strong probability of converting to a permanent job.
Job Description
Attacat are beginning an overhaul of their internal processes and procedures for delivery of online marketing to their clients. Your role will be to provide the technical expertise as part of this process. You’ll be creating tools to allow the whole team do their jobs more efficiently as well as offer new services.
You’ll be using your PHP, HTML, CSS and Javascript skills to make us more efficient. You can expect to be involved in a range of different projects and be learning a lot as you try out new things on an almost daily basis.
Particular tasks are likely to include: Reviewing and improving our current data collection and reporting processes; Creating a client area for our website; Redeveloping our own website; Improving our cookie audit tool; Creating nifty little web apps that will help our target audience; Generally mucking-in as part of the team.
One particular and important part of the role will be to become an expert in custom implementations of Google Analytics as measurement underpins all that we do for clients. You can also expect some of your time to be spent acting as a technical interface with our development partners and customers’ technical teams.
Skills / Experience
Essential:
- Ability to get to grips with languages and techniques you may not have previous experience of
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret briefs and ask pertinent questions
- Knowledge and/or experience of at least one of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- The discipline to document all you do
- Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team working
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of PHP
- Web app development
- Knowledge of Wordpress
- Some experience with APIs
- Previous experience of client relationship management
- A love of mash-ups
- Comfortable working in fast-past and sometimes noisy environment
Qualifications
- Required: Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science etc
- Advantageous: Relevant development work experience e.g. working on own web projects
