Job summary

Elgin Youth Development Group is recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month project management role. The successful graduate will be responsible for the effective project management of the community asset transfer of the building next door to the Youth Café to develop this facility for community groups to use, and to run as a social enterprise as well as a training facility for young people. Entry to the building is hoped for March 2013 on an initial one-year lease, and it is intended that the year is used to finalise the business plan, market the venue and to work with the local community to identify exactly what groups are looking for so that the most effective design and layout can be created for the building.

Job Description

This 12 month role will involve developing and managing a project plan for the transfer, liaising with building contractors where appropriate and with the Moray Council concerning planning permissions, building warrants and the progress of the transfer.

The aim of the project is to ensure that the community asset transfer is achieved smoothly through:

•        the clear identification of community need

•        effective marketing of the facility and recruitment of customers

•        ensuring key milestones are achieved with regard to legal and Council requirements

•        keeping stakeholders involved in the progress of the transfer

•        setting up appropriate policies and systems for the new building

•        Helping to finalise the business plan

•        identifying and pursuing appropriate funding streams

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

•        Degree in relevant discipline
