The origins of the business were established in the 1970s by a co-operative of farmers to produce pig feed. The significant changes came in 1988 when Cranswick embarked upon a strategic growth plan by extending its expertise and knowledge into the production of fresh pork and from there the success story has grown.

Cranswick Plc now works with the UK’s major retailers and food service companies producing fresh pork, gourmet sausages, gourmet bacon, cooked meats and a range of other value added products including sandwiches, continental delicacies such as olives and chorizo and the recent acquisition and development of a pastry bakery for the all-important sausage roll.

Our continued growth and success has been driven by entrepreneurial and challenging expert professionals from within the food industry, we have always valued the contribution graduates have made to our business and we are keen to identify the future business leaders who will drive forward a next strategic development.

Success within the food industry takes more than just being good at sales, it is essential to understand your products and processes and be in a position to support your customers to make the right purchasing decisions.

Cranswick values the need to train and develop graduate talent which is why we operate a programme that exposes our new recruits to all areas of our operational business for the first year.

You will be involved in projects and real work on farms, in the abattoir and on the production lines understanding the need for purchasing, animal welfare, health and safety, technical specifications and our production and packing processes.
By year 2 you will be moving towards to the more commercial end of the business working in either a sales or marketing function, perhaps both.

Our sales and marketing teams are working closely with the major food retailers, branded lines and food service sectors – your passion for good food and the highest quality will really come through.
An interest in food and business is essential, but we do not expect experience more a desire and enthusiasm to learn and progress.
