Graduate Sales Executives / Business Development

Birmingham based (travel within the Midlands)

£18,000 plus pension and bonus

Reporting to the Brand Manager the main purpose of this role is to develop and maintain high quality sales relationships with key customers and coordinating and developing profitable sales strategies across defined regions.

Graduate Sales Executives are a key link between the company and the timber trade, responsible for maximising the sales of the Company's products in many different settings. You will work strategically with our clients’ high profile Brands to increase the awareness and usage of the company's products in settings such as builders and builder’s Merchants and shop fitters and other key customers.

Based in Birmingham, graduates specialise in particular products associated with one of our clients’ Brands and they will try to ensure that they form high quality sales relationships with key customers. You may also be required to make presentations and organise group events for key customers, as well as work with contacts on a one-to-one basis.

As a Graduate Sales Executive you will be responsible for contacting potential customers; identifying their needs; persuading them that our clients’ products and service, rather than those of their competitors, can best satisfy their needs; closing the sale by agreeing the terms and conditions; and providing an after-sales service. You will arrange appointments with customers, which can include pre-arranged appointments or regular 'cold' calling. You will focus on building and maintaining positive working relationships with key accounts through regular review visits and acting as a contact between a company and its existing and potential markets.

Our clients’ graduates can undertake the option of sponsored training towards professional sales and marketing qualifications. You will attend training programmes organised by Management for your personal development and understanding of the Company's products and services. You will spend time working with the purchasing function in order to understand the buying aspect of the business and will be required initially to travel to different sites for training and development purposes.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and have a minimum of one year experience of working in a busy sales / office environment. You will have a good command of the English language and a competency in IT skills- using email, word and excel. You will ideally possess a professional Sales and Marketing qualification although not essential. You should have experience in a Sales department with experience of generating sales and achieving sales targets.
