The successful graduate will be play a fundamental role at Furmanac, developing new and existing processes, overseeing the delivery of current product lines and generating new conceptual designs. The role of the Graduate Project Engineer will be to manage projects from ‘cradle to grave’, to understand and interpret customer requirements and implement processes for the smooth running of the design & production teams. You will be responsible for developing systems that deliver a clear reporting structure, allowing traceability for product related issues.

You will be tasked with managing the complete NPI cycle, from concept to completion. You will seek to deliver new and existing products against a clear commercial plan using methods of best practice in Programme Management and New Product Development (NPD).

You will lead the product development team, taking responsibility for the delivery of new products. From concept meetings, market research, early stage design, prototype & testing to full production, and subsequent product evolution, you will work towards key project milestones on a daily basis.

You will also be responsible for data collation and the robust performance reporting of each project.

It is also required that you look into making the general process more efficient, from working out how to reduce wastage, to improving efficiencies and decreasing costs.

Finally, you will be required to liaise and communicate effectively across departments and present information clearly and accurately to key stakeholders and decision makers.


It is essential that you have an engineering or manufacturing background.

In addition, you will have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • You will have completed an engineering related qualification i.e. Mechanical, Design and/or Production Engineering extended to Electrical where relevant.
  • Experience with NPI & NPD models
  • Experience working on projects from ‘cradle to grave’ (advantageous)
  • Experience of implementing systems that enhance the running of design & production (experience of project management; industrial placement/1-2 years’ experience of assisting with/working on engineering projects and new product improvement)
  • Experience of using CAD packages such as AutoCad 2d, Solidworks 3d or Inventor.

Overall, we are looking for an individual who has a strong passion for new product development and a desire to manage a product lifecycle and deliver against commercial milestones and targets.
