Galloway And MacLeod Ltd have an excellent opportunity for a technology graduate to help streamline a variety of systems and processes into a seamless joined-up system. The role will allow them to use cutting edge technologies to build solutions that will be used to make a real difference to this growing and dynamic Scottish company. This is a 12 month placement with potential for a permanent position based in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire.

Project Description

Galloway and MacLeod Ltd currently use a Microsoft Dynamics NAV based ERP system to run the business. The system takes orders, manages customers, controls stock, etc, however there are also additional systems and paper-based processes that need to be streamlined and brought online.

The company is looking to extend the system to help move the company forward. System extensions may include, but not be limited to changes to the NAV system, configuring 3rd party modules, building scripts to help interface systems.

Role Description

Working closely with the Technical Director and other directors, the graduate will follow a brief and be involved in the design process. The solutions produced will be implemented, live and in use by customers and staff directly, so, this is a great opportunity to see your work put into practice straight away.

Key outputs might include adding web and desktop funtionality to the existing system and applications to allow staff to access systems remotely. The right person, with guidance, will be able to help the company streamline its systems and allow the business to work more flexibly and efficiently.

This role will be suited to a graduate who is extremely motivated and wants to work on a real project that really matters. A proactive attitude to learning is more important than having all the core skills in place from day one.

You should be able to learn on the job but some training will be given and we will be providing technical guidance by an experienced software engineer as a part time mentor.

Skills / Experience

Essential

·         .Net programming skills

·         Good analytical skills

·         It is more important to have the ability to learn and take on challenges that to have all the core skills in place from day one, so you will be expected to learn new skills and have a proactive attitude to learning.

Ideal

·         Some experience in or knowledge of Microsoft development environments, particularly MS Dynamics NAV, Visual Studio

·         Application and Web development skills.

Qualifications

Technology graduate preferably with an understanding of business processes.
