Job summary

BioFilm Ltd are looking for a graduate to improve the manufacturing process within the business. The candidate will identify opportunities to enhance equipment efficiency and increase performance regarding machine up-time. This is a 12 month placement with view to permanent hire based in Hamilton.

Project Description

The project is designed to take a pro-active approach to manufacturing process improvements and intended to identify opportunities for cost saving and machine up-time throughout the BioFilm Ltd manufacturing process.

The project will be deemed successful upon increased machine efficiency, up-time and reduced process costs.

Role Description

·         The candidate will work with the Maintenance Engineer and Manufacturing Manager in order to achieve joint objectives involving process improvements

·         The successful candidate will report to the Manufacturing Manager on a day to day basis

·         The role involves initial familiarisation and measurement of various processes to quantify risks and process related issues

·         Statistical techniques are essential in the measuring of process control

·         The gathered information/data shall be used to highlight process deficiencies and implement the necessary improvements to reduce the quantified problem(s)

·         The candidate will propose project timelines in which he/she deems necessary to implement and statistically show the success of the implemented initiatives.

·         The candidate will be expected to manage his/her own time and financial resource in the achievement of each defined project

·         The candidate will be expected to present his/her findings to the management team at the end of each mini project.

Skills / Experience


·         Process analysis and use of statistical tools

·         Excellent communicator

·         Strong team working skills (especially as part of a small team)

·         Ability to work proactively and independently using own initiative on own

·         Strong analytical skills

·         Good IT skills, in particular, competent with excel and power point


·         Pragmatic with a hands on approach

·         Confident and able to present at all company levels



·         Engineering Degree


·         Mechanical or Electrical
