We are one of the UK’s most exciting independent food manufacturers and innovators. We create bespoke recipes and finished products for our customers using a range of techniques and across a variety of categories.

What is exciting about this role?

Working as a key member of the development team you will be responsible for all aspects of product development for specific high profile accounts, which includes brand and own label products.

You will also be responsible for managing and maintaining the NPD process from concept to launch, benchmarking, innovation, recipe construction, product re-development, cost reduction, artwork approval and specification writing.

This role will require flexibility in approach, ranging from kitchen trial work, NPD production trials, customer visits, entertaining, store visits, and directional shopping, you will also be required to work closely with various departments within the business including sales, accounts,  technical, engineering, purchasing and operations /production.

Where do you come in?

The successful candidate will have a real passion and enthusiasm for new product development. The role will form a key part of the development team and duties will include:

  • Responding to briefs from the customer.
  • Concept development and ensuring samples are developed to brief
  • Benchmarking and product evaluation.
  • New raw material sourcing-liaising with the  Purchasing Manager in obtaining raw materials for each development, advising on allergens, nutritional values, suitability for process.
  • Customer support /liaison – keep the customer informed of progress throughout the development; have all correct paperwork completed within the NPD
  • NPD trials and product launches
  • Support the NPD Chef to build costings in order to achieve desired margins once recipe has been formulated.

What do you need to demonstrate?

Candidates applying to this role will need to hold a degree in Food Science/ Food Technology or similar, ideally with a 2.1 or above. The successful candidate will ideally have at least 12 months experience within a similar role.

A full European driving licence is also essential.
