Job summary

Watson Towers Group has an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Graduate. The initial 12 month placement, based in Coatbridge, will give the graduate training in order to develop into an internal role within our steel manufacturing and engineering business.

Job Description

Project Objective:

We are looking to develop a graduate into an internal role within the organisation. Planning, Production, Project Management, Procurement, CAD, Drawing Development and Steel Fabrication experience will be given in the first year. This in house training will be given with an aim to concentrating on one core skill they enjoy and making the graduate ready for work within the company in order to support and strengthen the current team.

Role Description:

Reporting to Group Operations Director, the graduate will spend several months in each of the departments to get a solid understanding of all of our work and may also be asked to attend project sites. Tasks will include:

·         Design

·         Assisting with in-house design

·         Processing engineering information

·         Project Management

·         Planning (Microsoft Project beneficial)

·         Liaising with clients / sub-contractors

·         Commercial

·         Assisting in bid management

·         Project reviews / change controls

·         Logging variations

The successful candidate will be assessed internally throughout the placement. Successful completion and demonstration of tasks given and appropriate discipline and attitude during the placement could result in a permanent position.

Skills / Experience

Essential

·         Strong Team Working skills to work collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff;

·         Excellent Communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and sub-contractors

·         Knowledge and/or experience of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)

·         Punctual and good time-keeping skills

·         An ability to work quickly and accurately with excellent attention to detail to agreed deadlines.

Ideal

·         Experience and/or knowledge of Microsoft Project and Autocad

·         Some knowledge and/or experience in understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards.

Qualifications

·         A minimum BEng in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Additional Info

Duration: 12 month placement with a view to permanent hire. Hours of working: 8.30am to 4.30pm, 5 days a week. Additional hours for training may be required.
