Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: £18,500-22,000

An exciting opportunity exists with a leading security company based near to London who are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer Graduate to join their team.

The company designs, manufactures and installs perimeter security systems for many high profile customers including Airports and government buildings.

We require a hands-on Mechanical Engineering graduate to join our growing team. This is an exciting and varied role where you will be involved in the design of premier security systems. You will be required to:

  • Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings to client specifications
  • Liaise with the fabrication team and project managers
  • Assist with site installation of products
  • Work with the R&D team to design and produce new products to bring to market

This is a great opportunity to have real impact on a growing business and get to utilise and develop your practical skills. You will work closely with a highly experienced and friendly team to see through design projects from start to finish.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills/qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or similar, ideally with a 2.1 or above.
  • Excellent IT skills with experience in producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings, using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of the engineering design process and working to BSI ISO 9001
  • Proficiency in both static and dynamic mechanical calculations performed on steel structures, including wind loadings.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and also possess good commercial acumen.

Useful but not essential attributes include:

  • A basic level of computer programming (e.g. Inventor iLogic, VB.Net or equivalent)
  • Experience in using Autodesk Vault or an equivalent drawing database management system
  • Experience using basic hand tools and participation in engineering related hobbies
  • Previous experience in a position related to design for manufacture
