Project Objectives:

  • To extend, expand and improve the direct marketing capacity and cabability in order to increase turnover and profitability and to improve the brand awareness both nationally and internationally.

The role will involve:

  • Appraisal of the UK and overseas markets for opportunities to grow the direct supply of the range of products to private customers, and to prepare proposals to suggest what potential volumes might be
  • Assessment of the suitability of the current product range, pricing, methods of ordering, and customer support services; and to prepare proposals ro suggest improvements as necessary
  • Review of the cost effectiveness of the existing packaging and delivery systems and to prepare proposals to suggest possible improvements
  • Identifying and proposing the most cost-effective methods of recruiting new private customers, retaining established customers and managing and maintaining an effective active customer database utilizing methods and technologies currently available to the company
  • Review of the existing promotional mix – catalogue, newsletters and existing use of online and social media channels and to prepare proposals for possible improvements. Writing and editing of keyword optimized text and video and daily updating of the company website and social media networking sites
  • Development of proposals for, and implementation of costed sales promotions/special offers etc, in particular to develop sales outside the existing peak periods
  • Development of a costed marketing plan setting out targets, objectives and timescales to grow the customer base, to improve the promotional and marketing activities and to increase sales and margins.
  • Analysis and evaluation of promotional activities and identification of potential ways to exploit opportunities for links to improved sales performance
  • Development of a company marketing manual to capture key processes for the areas outlined above. If appropriate, delegate responsibilities and/or handover to new staff member.

Skills / Experience

Essential:

  • An ability to write enthusiastic and persuasive promotional copy for our quality forest products
  • An ability to cost and evaluate the effectiveness of promotional activity
  • Good competence and ability with current IT systems and processes
  • Bright, intelligent and adaptive
  • Honest, truthful and trustworthy
  • Able to work independently
  • Willing to re-locate if not living in the area
  • Good organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Strong general knowledge of the internet and experience using Social media such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Good competence with photography and using image editing applications such as Photoshop
  • Some experience of direct marketing
  • Good interpersonal skills

Qualifications

A degree in Marketing or equivalent relevant discipline.
