Gaffey Technical Services design and manufacture water treatment systems. They are seen as innovators in their field and now they are establishing themselves as more of a manufacturer rather than just providing technical services.

Gaffey provide their expertise to a wide range of industrial and commercial customers including councils (swimming pools) and spas as well as providing solutions for legionella control for building services and facilities management.

Family owned since 1986 they are well recognised for their pioneering approach. As they venture in to new domestic and international markets, the opportunities are substantial.

In this respect they recognise the need to strengthen the team with the introduction of a Marketing Assistant.

The main purpose of this role is to further develop the company’s marketing strategy, implement activities that will increase market share and raise the profile of the company.

Duties and responsibilities:-

  • Implementing and refine the marketing strategy to maximise the company’s revenue potential.
  • Re-assessing all existing company marketing material and activities with the intention to create an action plan in order to prioritise marketing work alongside current and future sales targets/activities.
  • Executing and be the ‘brand guardian’ of the Gaffey Technical Services brand and positioning strategy.
  • Working with the Managing Director design and implement all marketing schedules to include (as required) print; online; social networking; e-marketing; direct mail; PR; advertising; signage and photography.
  • Producing written briefs / copy and manage the design process of all marketing collateral including print; online; social networking; e-marketing; direct mail; PR; advertising; signage and photography.
  • Managing a time-line approach to all marketing work with the sales team.
  • Researching, designing and preparing digital and hard copy company brochures, data sheets, editorials, advertorials, case studies, etc.
  • Being responsible for keeping the company’s online marketing channels up to date on a daily basis including websites and social networking sites
  • Working with specialist external agencies (designers, PR, content generation) to ensure company is maximising the return on investment in these areas.
  • Creating, actioning and managing email marketing campaigns using company database software and web based licensed software.
  • Managing and maintaining company websites and all company social media with the latest products and case histories.
  • Assisting in preparation of marketing and sales material for sales and training events, including event organisation.
  • Developing business relationships with external marketing resources including journal editors, events agents, trade show exhibitors, etc.
  • Assisting in developing and managing sales and marketing tools to help identify sales opportunities, marketing effectiveness and areas of market research including export business opportunities.
  • Working with the in-house database to ensure that from a marketing perspective, it is optimised (the data is clean, segmented and up to date) and use the database for mailing extractions and client analysis. Further develop the database through lead generation and profile raising activities.
  • Identifying and organising appropriate trade shows / events / exhibitions and measure the effectiveness of each.
  • Monitoring and evaluating marketing activity and client feedback.
  • Acting as a representative and advocate of Gaffey Technical Services and undertake additional duties as required.

With a marketing or business and marketing related degree ideally, you will have had some exposure to, or currently work in a marketing role or related function. In addition we are looking for someone with the following attributes:-

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Highly literate (written and spoken English) and numerate
  • IT literate including working knowledge of databases.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal skills and high standards of presentation.
  • Live near Accrington or be willing to relocate to a commutable distance.
  • Have a desire and capacity for learning.
  • Professional and driving enthusiasm to succeed in exploiting opportunities in order to develop and grow an innovative manufacturing company.
  • A positive attitude and be able to demonstrate a commitment to self-development.
