Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn (Galson Estate Trust), based on the Isle of Lewis, are recruiting for a graduate for a 12 month Marketing and Membership role. The placement will aim to streamline the marketing activities undertaken and engage with the community and stakeholders to ensure they are aware of the work being undertaken and projects planned.

Job Description

The role will mostly involve marketing, stakeholder and community relations, database management and event planning. A key outcome of the project is to increase membership, in turn supporting the growth and sustainability of the organisation. Duties and responsibilities will include and not limited to:
• Develop and implement a membership and marketing strategy for the estate area
• Develop and support the growth of the membership and implement a “Friends of Galson” initiative
• Co-ordinate events to mark key milestones; including invitations, registration, and associated materials
• Prepare appropriate advertising for events and creation of advertisements
• Represent Galson Estate Trust at selected events
• Assist in the development of marketing materials and tools (writing of press releases, arranging photo shoots)
• Update and maintain databases and information for the membership and “friends of Galson”
• Ensure appropriate tracking of costs associated with activities/events
• Support the sourcing of funding to carry events and/or produce marketing collateral
• Coordinate the allocation of marketing collateral to various partner organisations/local outlets
• Undertake responsibility for use of social media to promote and engage with stakeholders and members
• Liaise with other community organisations and public agencies to ensure co-ordination of activities and best practice where applicable, including the development of effective relationships with key stakeholders
• Co-ordinate activities with colleagues and contribute to team working to achieve the organisation’s goals and objectives
• Develop and implement suitable management, monitoring and evaluation processes to enable effective reporting to funders/stakeholders and to achieve continuous improvement
• Provide regular narrative and statistical reports for senior staff and directors
• Ensure good governance and effective administration for above activities
This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Desirable:
• Familiarity with design software i.e. photoshop, serif
• Familiarity with community-owned estates/development trusts
• Experience of press/media
• Fluency in Gaelic or an understanding of the Gaelic language/enthusiasm to learn
• Access to own transport
