EXPIRY NOTICE: This job has now expired and will not be accepting any more applications.

For over 40 years, Butters has supplied indoor and outdoor plants to major high street supermarkets and DIY outlets. Starting out as a family business with an eagerness for providing quality and value, Butters is now the UK’s leading distributor of horticultural products. With sales of over £50m a year, we supply products for in-store sale as well as home delivery to household names including Marks & Spencer, J Sainsbury, Wilko, Waitrose, Interflora and B&Q.

One of our strongest assets in the business is our people. Our staff have a genuine passion for all things green and we pride ourselves on having a diverse, dedicated team that contributes to making the Butters Group a great place to work. We are now looking for a hands-on Graduate Marketing Analyst to join our team.

Main Purpose of the Role

As a Graduate Marketing Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to work with market data to spot trends, movements and opportunities.

You will be the first port of call for the Sales Team and Account Managers, ensuring they are fully prepared and have up to date market knowledge to share in client meetings, pitches and tenders.

Working mainly with products within the Butters Plants division, you will analyse plant data and provide reports for the rest of the business. This role will also involve you reviewing data with major retailers and you will also have the exciting opportunity to work away (all expenses covered) with some of the major retailers we supply.

On a typical day, you will be involved in:

  • Taking ownership for market data
  • Supplying commercially-viable information to the Sales Team and Account Managers
  • Spotting trends and market movements
  • Formatting data accurately and presenting it clearly
  • Communicating analysis to relevant internal stakeholders (Managing Director, buyers, commercial team)
  • Supporting customers (major retailers) to explore their market analysis
  • Liaising with consumer groups and conducting in store product surveys

We have a great culture of support and development here at Butters, and a strong history of graduate success. You will take on the role of Graduate Marketing Analyst for around 18-24 months and there will be opportunities to progress within the business thereafter. Typically, Marketing Analysts will progress into supporting commercial functions, analysing account performance, account management or management roles.

The Individual

We are looking for a personable, self-starter to join our team – someone who is enthusiastic, resilient, willing to get stuck in and able to influence. Other key attributes we are looking for include:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Being adaptable – can accommodate changing plans where necessary
  • A good sense of humour
  • Ability to build good relationships with people
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-aware and able to see things from different perspectives
  • Process oriented – methodical and logical (but not inflexible)
  • Highly numerate

Academically, we are looking for a 2:2 degree or higher in a Marketing related discipline and CCC (or equivalent) at A-Level.

Successful applicants will be confident with data analysis and have an understanding of commonly used marketing platforms. You will be highly literate and able to produce reports to a professional standard. A good grasp of Microsoft Excel is also required.

Salary & Benefits

We know how hard our employees work and what a substantial contribution they make to businesses and because of this, we offer the people who join us a very attractive package.

  • A starting salary of £23,000
  • 26 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays)
  • Everyday healthcare benefits (reduced fee dental checks, eye testing etc.)
  • Pension
  • Relocation support
  • Staff discount in Butters Factory Shop

Training Opportunities & Progression

A 6-8 week training plan will be in place when you join to ensure you start getting to grips with the business from day one. This role provides a fantastic platform for you to learn the foundations of how a business like ours works and the importance of good financial decision making and taking responsibility.

To support the development of your soft skills, you will also be enrolled onto the Discovery Graduates OPEN Programme; an 18 month experiential programme for graduates that will kick-start your structured personal development and accelerate your performance at work. You will work towards achieving a Level 3 Institute of Leadership & Management certificate.

After building your knowledge, skills and relationships over 18-24 months, you will have the chance to progress into other areas of the business, from Account Management to Commercial Support and more.

If you think you have the drive and resilience to succeed in this dynamic graduate role, please apply now for immediate consideration.
