Job summary

Storm Pods Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of fiberglass shelled accommodation pods based on the Isle of Islay, are recruiting for a graduate for a 12 month market research role.  This project seeks to undertake in depth marked research and then develop the existing marketing plan to focus on the identified key areas, building on the work already achieved during the product development phase and the already implemented social media presence.

Job Description

Storm Pods Ltd was able to secure funding for the development through the Scottish Edge. The process advised a greater marketing focus and identification of key markets on which to focus.

The next phase will be to identify suitable marketing opportunities, such as relevant trade shows and the appropriate marketing materials to ensure the most effective use of this resource.

The role will also involve conducting relevant market research into desired markets to help with the marketing plan, in particular the farm diversification market and the glamorous camping market.

Tasks will include:

•        Developing a suitable marketing strategy for the company’s pod activities. The strategy should be developed in such a way that it allows us to capitalise on the new information gained from the market research. The strategy should allow us to reach specific targets throughout the year.

 

•        Contribute towards the content of our website and social media site. Regular updates will be required as our product range expands and as new services are offered.

 

•        Sourcing new marketing opportunities ranging from attending relevant trade shows to contacting media outlets.

 

•        Being involved in the day to day running of the business to experience all aspects of the company. Marketing, sales, business development are just some of the activities that will be involved during the placement providing a well-rounded work experience.

 

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Skills / Experience

Essential:

•        Good administration and IT skills including use of Microsoft office

•        Excellent face-to-face communication and customer care skills

•        Enjoys working as part of a busy work-force team

•        Experience in gathering data, extrapolating and analysing  for market research

•        Experience in working face-to-face with the public

•        Ambitious, imaginative and flexible – must be able to assess the market and respond accordingly

•        Punctual, organised and have high standards for delivery of tasks

•        Hard working

•        Enthusiastic and honest

Desirable:

•        Knowledge of the target markets
