Why should I work for Softcat?

Many businesses strive to keep their customers satisfied. But precious few realise that to have satisfied customers, first they must have satisfied employees.

We are Softcat, one of the precious few. We look after our employees so well that The Sunday Times awarded us ‘Best Small Company to Work For’ in 2010. We took the top spot on the strength of our policies as an employer, and on our employees’ views on salary, career prospects, rewards, recognition and leadership.

Join us, and as well as paying you up to £30,000 OTE in your first year alone, we will shower you with unusual perks and give you great opportunities to advance in your sales career.

What does the job involve?

As a Graduate IT Sales Executive, you will be responsible for selling our IT products and services. You will manage accounts, get to understand clients’ needs, introduce new products and deliver a first-class service. To begin with, your role will focus on business development: contacting prospects, targeting new accounts for Softcat, and following up marketing activity.

Am I right for the job?

We’re looking for intelligent, focused people with drive, determination and the will to succeed. You should also have a university degree and have the right to work in the UK.

How much can I earn?

That’s down to you. Our commission structure is one of the best in the IT industry, and truly rewards you for your efforts. On average, new sales employees can expect to earn £25,000 - £30,000 OTE in year one, £40,000 in year two and a staggering £80,000 in year three. You could be making £100,000 after four years.

How will my career develop?

That’s down to you as well. Work hard and you could quickly become a team leader, acquire general management skills and find yourself recruiting and managing your own team. The best team leaders become sales managers and look after a number of sales teams. You will take on more management duties, learn new skills and continue to manage your own set of accounts

Our training and development manager is here to support you from day one, and future managers play a big part in your induction so you can later assess which sales team you would like to join. Our structured training programme will help you on your way, and we will support you in attaining relevant qualifications.

What else can you offer me?

Our chairman, founder and unofficial ‘minister of fun’, Peter Kelly, believes in the ‘work hard, play hard’ ethos. So as well as offering you student loan contributions, healthcare and dental plans, and a company contributory pension, we offer fun activities and unusual perks, such as a shirt ironing service, tea and toast delivered to your desk, a half-day holiday on your birthday, lunch at exclusive restaurants, and team-building activities. And to reward excellent performance we organise trips to places like Fiji, Rio de Janeiro and the Galapagos Islands.
