Job Description:

High Performance Engineering has been identified as a growth sector both in Buckinghamshire and by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).

This project will assess the strength of the high-performance engineering sector in Buckinghamshire based on firms, individuals, educational establishments and other institutions before exploring the economic geography of the sector in the county and Buckinghamshire’s place in the national high-performance engineering industry, including consideration of trading flows and recruitment patterns.

A literature and policy review will need to be completed to provide context for the data analysis and to position Buckinghamshire within national debates. The data analysis will draw on national datasets and primary research where required. The project will conclude with a written report setting out the research findings and making policy recommendations. The final report will be informed by discussions following the presentation of findings to representatives from BELP and Buckinghamshire County Council.

This internship will provide interns with an opportunity to manage a complete consultancy project, from devising a methodology through to presenting recommendations to the BELP Board and County Councillors. The completed project will provide evidence of report writing for business, qualitative and quantitative analysis, project management and giving presentations to a range of audiences.
