Europe Supply currently produces 50 million cases per annum of both white and brown spirit. Diageo is investing 1 billion in the next 5 years in the Scotch market. There are currently 52 sites in Scotland employing c.3,500 people. Many of the sites operate on a 24 hour, 7 day, 4-shift pattern, working with in distilling, packaging, warehousing, technical and offices, servicing many of our global markets with some of our premium key brands including Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Tanqueray, Morgans, Ciroc and Smirnoff Ice.

The Rates Assessment project will be central site based (Edinburgh Park), with parts of the project requiring working from Dalkia office in Glasgow. The Europe Supply finance team is made up of site Commercial Finance Managers, and Central Finance support positions. As the sponsor of this project, the main reporting line will be into the Commercial Finance Manager North & East. There will be support and liaison from the Legal team also.

Role Description

This specific project will provide a real value add opportunity to Diageo. Providing full resource to this task is imperative, not only to ensure the Rates Assessor is satisfied with information, and can come to a rates conclusion, but also to ensure full information is obtained to allow Diageo to take advantage of as much cost as possible that is deemed exempt for rates. Full cost information is also necessary to ensure capitalisation of the cost of the project, when complete, is correct and transparent – at the minute there are issues getting this information.

Main responsibilities will include:

•        Engage with Dalkia to source all cost records and reconcile back to the overall investment cost

•        Allocate costs to identifiable assets and classify for rates assessment

•        Prepare a fixed asset register for the leased asset to allow an overview of the investment and to allow future upload onto SAP.

The purpose of this role is to provide a Finance graduate with rich and valuable finance experience in a real business environment to support their development as a finance professional.

You will be assessed against this at the end of your internship to ensure you and Diageo gain value from your experience as per all Diageo employees.

Skills / Experience
