Project Description

Diageo Europe Supply currently produces 50 million cases per annum of both white and brown spirit. Diageo is investing 1 billion in the next 5 years in the Scotch market.

There are currently 52 sites in Scotland employing c.3,500 people. Many of the sites operate on a 24 hour, 7 day, 4-shift pattern, working with in distilling, packaging, warehousing, technical and offices, servicing many of our global markets with some of our premium key brands including Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Tanqueray, Morgans, Ciroc and Smirnoff Ice.

The dry goods project will be site based and orientated, and will involve reporting and liaison mainly with site Commercial Finance Managers. The Europe Supply finance team is made up of site Commercial Finance Managers, and Central Finance support positions. These management will act as the entry knowledge into what is required of the project, and the key stakeholders to utilise to help in the achievement of it.

Role Description

We are currently looking for a recent graduate with strong analytical skills to join our Europe Supply business as a Finance Analyst. The role will be based at one of our sites in Glasgow and is responsible for process analysis and improvement within the dry goods area of the business.

This role will drive value for the business through better processes, which will ultimately give more confidence and clarity around the accounts, as well as improving a very important site operational process (which will also allow for most efficient management of costs).

The purpose of this role is to provide a Finance graduate with rich and valuable finance experience in a real business environment to support their development as a finance professional.

Key areas:

a) Financial

•                    Updates on progress

•                    Measurement and advice on methods of dry goods valuation and physical count

•                    Reporting to Commercial Finance on values of dry goods stock held each month

b) Market Complexity

•                    Sites geographically spread with varying people complexities

c) Leadership Responsibilities

•                    Interfaces with site management and key stakeholders (including site directors and finance)

•                    Lead a defined process from start to desired outcome

•                    Lead conversation and meetings of a knowledgeable forum – made up of a spread of departmental personnel

Top 3-5 accountabilities:

•                    Understand the dry goods process, and the effect it has both operationally and financially

•                    Lead the organisation and management of forums to improve the process going forward. Key stakeholders with knowledge and expertise will support this forum, and the objective is to gain all members engagement to come up with a workable solution to present

•                    On completion, write up a ‘process map’ that will be used as the ‘best practice tool’ for the dry goods process. This will be communicated across all Europe Supply packaging sites as the process to adhere to regarding dry goods.
