Why should you join us?
GCHQ's Graduate Fast Stream programme is our distinct brand of the Cabinet Office's Civil Service Fast Stream and is designed to identify and develop tomorrow's managers and leaders. The programme offers individually tailored training and rapid development into senior roles, within a large and complex organisation whose work is literally unique and hugely important to the well-being of Britain.
What you’ll be doing
Learning and thinking on your feet from day one, as we develop your leadership qualities through bespoke training and a series of management assignments in different areas of the organisation. The scheme, typically about 5 years, will maximise your potential, providing you with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to prepare you for a senior role within GCHQ or the wider Civil Service.
The kind of work you’ll be doing will demand you to assimilate complex information and evaluate it rapidly, so you must possess sound judgment and problem solving skills, and be able to generate practical recommendations from raw material. Dealing with senior figures across the Intelligence services and Whitehall, first-class interpersonal and people management skills are imperative.
Support and Training
Formal training will be unique to you, but will be as broad ranging as our business. Informal training will take place ‘on the job’ – or rather, in a succession of real assignments, each giving you more management responsibility and experience of different areas of our business. The idea is that by the end of the programme, you’ll have a detailed understanding of the full range of work in GCHQ.
Minimum 2:2 Honours degree in any subject. You must be a British citizen. Selection is by an on-line application form, followed by psychometric tests, interview and assessment centre. What we’re interested in is your intellect and management potential.
