Job Summary

Renewables Now Ltd, a renewables technology installation company based in Argyll, is recruiting for a 12 month Graduate Domestic Energy Assessor. The successful graduate will establish and develop an energy consultancy service to enhance our current business activities and to fulfil the requirements of new government legislation from within the business rather than outsourcing to out of area companies.

Job Description

The graduate would become a “Green Deal Assessor”.

This project is to design, implement and carry out new business processes relating to energy efficiency measures for domestic households. This is an office/site based customer facing role which may occasionally require working/ training away from home.
This twelve month project is a real opportunity to develop and establish a new area of business for Renewables Now and should lead to a permanent position with opportunities to extend our operational skill sets into other related business areas.
These additional skills will enable Renewables Now to maintain the highest levels of customer service and will ensure we remain at the forefront in this sector. Additionally, the business will be able to offer these new services other businesses including competitors.

The role will involve:

• Gain Qualifications as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) and Green Deal Assessor (GDA). Intensive training will be provided.
• Design and implement DEA/GDA operational office systems for Quality Management System, documented procedures, job and client management with support from the existing team.
• Train with the existing team generating leads and new business.
• Meet customers at their own premises and complete assessments of their domestic properties. This will include an analysis of current energy performance status and suitability for the installation of energy efficiency measures and submission of assessments and generation of Energy Performance Certificates.
• Play a key role in developing partnerships with other Green Deal Organisations.
This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.



• Higher/A level mathematics or Physics required
• Should be qualified to HND or degree level in an relevant field
• Good IT skills
• Ability to observe, measure and record information and document accurately
• Demonstrates initiative, with good time and task management skills
• Full UK driving licence and use of own car
• Skilled communicator with a positive and professional attitude
• A positive attitude to business development
• Must be a quick learner, who can think on their feet
• Good customer service skills
• Flexibility and willingness to travel to meet the requirements of the role
• Bright, confident, enthusiastic, self- motivated, resilient, adaptable
• The successful graduate will be required to obtain a valid and clear CRB check if they don’t already have one in place.


• Any form of building, heating or electrical experience would be a distinct advantage


The graduate will gain accredited industry qualifications and invaluable experience in many areas of the business.

As part of this TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme, the candidate will benefit from support from a team within Highlands and Islands Enterprise and also access a four day residential course training focussed on employability and business skills.
