Graduate Electronic and Software Engineers

WeÆre looking for an Applications Engineer to join our consumer business group. Candidates must be motivated, hard working and have a background in software programming. This is a customer-facing position which consists of providing our customerÆs engineers with sufficient technical information and advice to enable them to successfully start a project using products from our Principles.
It is an excellent grounding role for understanding the commercial and business needs of industry whilst augmenting basic Engineering knowledge with the real world customer needs. Product training and business process skills will be provided.
The role is office-based with regular opportunities for foreign travel.
ò Working with the Sales and Application team on a number of European business accounts, providing applications support.
ò Customer project management.
ò Solving applications engineering questions, using local resource or established back up procedures provided by the respective principle. To support a customerÆs complete, professional solution and ensuring it meets their overall system needs.
ò Preparing demonstration units for customer visits.
ò Giving presentations on technology and demonstrations of potential solutions to customers.
ò Assist in training customers on how to use the ICs and software tools that we supply.
ò Developing excellent working relationships with our Principals. This includes identifying areas for efficiency improvements between the Companies, and highlighting any operational concerns.
European and US travel is required. Some other world wide travel may occur.
Development of the role
This position will offer provide the platform for career development into Pre-Sales support or expansion into more other areas of Applications Engineering support.
The ideal candidate should have a degree or similar in software engineering or computer science.
Required skills: Software programming skills û including embedded C
Working knowledge of embedded Linux
Computer literate (MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access)
Familiarity with electronic hardware (microprocessors, memory, mixed-signal ICs)
Excellent written and oral communicator
Strong desire to develop personally and to build a solid career foundation
Bonus skills: Knowledge of MIPS cores, ARM 7 cores and DSP cores.
Experience of embedded x86 designs.
Interest or experience with audio and/or visual systems.
Full driving licence.
