Graduate Drainage Engineer - Sewer Modelling
NOTICE: This job has now expired and will not be accepting any more
We know that the right kind of candidate, equipped and trained, can look forward to a rewarding career in the wastewater industry while playing a crucial role in raising standards.
Sewer modelling is the creation and use of computer models to represent sewer systems. These computer models are built to replicate flows that occur in our sewer networks and are verified against measured flows and known operational problems (e.g. flooding or pollution). The models are then used to develop solutions to these existing problems or to predict impacts on future performance (e.g. climate change or new development).
Drainage Engineers undertake all aspects of this process: collecting data through site surveys (including supervising sub-contractors) û using existing record and survey data to construct the computer model (including manipulating graphical databases) û testing the model against æreal-lifeÆ scenarios û and utilising the model to develop engineering solutions.
This role, therefore, requires attention to detail (to build models accurately and error free); problem-solving skills (to resolve discrepancies between the model predictions and the measured data); creativity and engineering knowledge (to design robust solutions). Reporting back to clients plays a vital part in the process such that the ability to write clear and concise reports is of extreme importance.
Screening is carried out on an ongoing basis using our on-line application form at www.hartfairpro.com. If successful, you will be invited to attend an assessment centre at our HQ in Warwickshire, at which we will identify those graduates with the potential to thrive within the wastewater industry.
Our graduates donÆt make tea and photocopies for twelve months û you will undertake worthwhile and meaningful tasks from day one. To facilitate this, an intensive and comprehensive four-week training course will ensure you have a head start on your peers.
Due to our strict selection process and rigorous training, our graduates are of the highest calibre, well suited to the role of a sewer modeller and equipped with the knowledge, technology, practice, and support to build a successful career in the industry. You will be a valuable asset within the wastewater industry; we will acknowledge this with the generous salary and benefits we provide to our graduates.
