Job summary

Calman Trust in Inverness is recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month Digital Media role.  The successful graduate will play a lead role in the establishment of a Digital Media Service within the Calman Trust.  Based within our Digital Media Studio in Hilton, Inverness, the graduate will lead in building a portfolio of sound, video and web based production as well as leading in developing a Graphic Design service for individuals and organisations.

Job Description

Initially production will be based on generating products for public service information aimed at vulnerable groups, however it will be the post holders role to develop new business and build a sound customer base.

The Digital Media Executive has the role of leading on the development of this business venture within the organisation meeting production, sales and customer targets, whilst creating a training experience for young people Calman Trust are engaged with.   

At present we have a studio fully equipped to produce audio and visual digital media.  Using state of the art equipment Calman are looking for someone to produce sound, video and web based products for a growing market.  At present there are discussions ongoing with some clients, however it will be the role of the Media Executive to grow this market. 

The successful candidate will report to the Business Development Manager, however will be supported by other Service Managers, to work on delivering products within.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Skills / Experience


•        Relevant qualifications in sound/video production or broader digital media production

•        Good standard of education, literacy and numeracy skills

•        Proven graphic design capability

•        Proven ability to work creatively and collaboratively, with a minimum of direct supervision

•        Ability to plan, organise and coordinate the execution of production by a team

•        Energetic, enthusiastic and creative with ability to inspire through effective communication.

•        Knowledge and experience of camera, light and sound operation for broadcast media and recording purposes.

•        Track record in video design for public performance or online production

•        Previous experience in delivering high quality digital products to performance/

•        broadcast standard

•        Skills and experience in the use of editing equipment and fully conversant with the appropriate software

•        Ability to fault-find and carry out first line maintenance on video or sound equipment.

•        Ability to work to a budget and to recognise financial constraints

•        Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with customers and clients.

•        A ‘can-do’ ‘will-do’ approach

•        Desire to work as a member of a wider creative team incorporating Senior Staff and colleagues


•        Secondary degree/ qualification in Marketing

•        Experience of account  management and customer care

•        Direct experience of business development/planning within the creative industries

•        Evidence of a strong entrepreneurial attitude

•        Ability to negotiate, consult and involve effectively at all levels, including with young people and partner services.

•        Ability to build and sustain a growing customer base

•        Ability to time manage and priorities

•        Experience of marketing and of building a new customer base


Degree in relevant discipline
