Job Summary

Aridhia Informatics Ltd have 2 unique placements for graduates interested in pursuing a career in data science applied within the healthcare domain. The data analyst role will help develop our analytic products, expanding our capabilities and supporting project specific implementations. The 12 month placements have strong potential to transition to a permanent role, initially based in Edinburgh, the location could thereafter be flexible between Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Project Description:

As a lead partner in the Stratified Medicine Scotland Innovation Centre, we work in partnership with clients, such as the NHS, to analyse clinical data in order to support healthcare professionals in making care decisions.

Big data is a growing industry and these 12 month placements would suit graduates interested in pursuing a career in data science applied within the healthcare domain. Our data analysis team play a key role in helping to develop our analytic products, expanding our capabilities and supporting project specific implementations. The successful candidates will be involved in a range of data analysis / science projects.

Role Description:

The graduates' primary role will be supporting the development of our clinical analytics product and particularly the analysis of client data so it can be accurately integrated and relevant analytics deployed for their installation of the product. This work could be repeated for multiple client engagements.

Their secondary role will be supporting the development of our research analytics product working with clients or internally on data analysis and research that can expand our analytical capabilities and services.

Key tasks:

  • Working closely with the clinical and development teams to define the logic for data integration and configuration of our analytical products to support individual clinical care and population monitoring and management.
  • Investigate quality and usability of data sources to facilitate accurate and reliable integration into our common data model.
  • Develop data-driven insight through exploratory analysis of the integrated data leading to ideas for new metrics, visualisations, statistical measures and methods that can be incorporated into our products and services.
  • Research and configure clinical metrics for supporting performance monitoring for project or disease specific implementations.
  • Research and configure predictive models for risk stratification of patients for project or disease specific implementations.
  • Assist in customer engagement, requirements definition, project scoping, timeline management and documentation.
  • Provide input into the data analysis team methods, processes and day-to-day work.

 

Skills/Experience

Essential:

  • Knowledge and/or experience of analysing qualitative and quantative data for patterns and trends
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with multilevel stakeholder
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrates a genuine interest in the meaning and the use of clinical data and passion to deliver data-driven insight, products and services
  • Able to deal with fast pace of change and can handle a level of ambiguity within their work environment
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team across a variety of projects
  • High level of attention to detail.

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience working with relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Greenplum DB) and preferably with large-scale data sets.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of one or more of the following would be an advantage:
    • Working in the healthcare sector
    • Data mining and/or statistical modelling techniques
    • Data governance and compliance issues
    • Working with interactive data visualisation technologies (e.g. D3 and Tableau)
    • Working with statistical and dynamic programming languages (e.g. R, SAS and Python)
    • Working with distributed computing platforms (e.g. Hadoop)
    • Working in a SME or as part of an academic research team.

 

Qualifications

Degree in an analytical or technical field (e.g. computer science, applied mathematics or statistics)

    Additional Info

    Location:  Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee - The main office base will be determined prior to the candidate’s start date and for the first couple of months we would prefer for the candidate to be predominantly based in our Edinburgh office. We provide employees with Flexipass tickets for standard class travel to/from Edinburgh and Glasgow offices and Edinburgh and Dundee offices.
