Job summary

Project Trust, based on the Isle of Coll, Argyll, are recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month communications role.  The successful graduate will be responsible for significantly increasing the quality, consistency and regularity of internal and external communications and messaging, to increase brand profile and support the achievement of all key strategic objectives.

Job Description

Project Trust, based on the Isle of Coll, Argyll, are recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month communications role.  The successful graduate will be responsible for significantly increasing the quality, consistency and regularity of internal and external communications and messaging, to increase brand profile and support the achievement of all key strategic objectives.

The role will involve:

•        Development and delivery of a Media and Communications Strategy and associated policies and action plans, covering all aspects of social media, press and PR (in collaboration with the Senior Management Team and Design and Marketing Officer)

•        Creation of a ‘story bank’ of volunteer case studies

•        Development of a press kit, including a database of key local and national media contacts, templates and resources

•        Collation and development of relevant training and learning resources and delivery of training (as appropriate) on communications and media for Project Trust staff

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Skills / Experience

Essential:

•        Relevant degree in Journalism, Marketing or other related subject

•        Excellent communication skills, including written and spoken

•        Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including volunteers, parents, other staff and external contacts and agencies

•        Experience of working on varied communications materials both online and offline

•        Experience of writing high-quality stories and newsletters and gathering case studies

•        Experience of developing innovative ideas and driving through change

•        Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

•        Experience of working in an office environment

•        Ability to demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the aims and objectives of Project Trust and commitment to Project Trust’s purpose, approach and ethos

•        Ability to form good working relationships with a wide range of groups and individuals

•        Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

•        Preparedness to undertake occasional work outside normal standard office hours

•        A demonstrable commitment to Equal Opportunities and Diversity in all Work practices

•        Able to travel to different venues within the UK and possibly overseas, in order to fulfil the requirements of the role

Desirable:

•        Excellent facilitation and training delivery skills

•        Excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills

•        Web design and / or social media management skills

•        Experience of journalism, marketing, social media or PR;

•        Experience of working with young people and a variety of groups including schools, youth groups and community groups

•        Experience of living and / or working in an overseas environment

•        Experience and / or understanding of the voluntary/ public/ charitable sector

•        Experience of providing training and / or facilitating meetings

Qualifications

•        Degree in Journalism, Marketing or other related subject.
