Job summary

Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks business are recruiting for a graduate for a project engineer role.  The 12 month role will provide an Engineering graduate with rich and valuable experience in a real business environment to support their development as a professional. The successful graduate will be part of a major expansion and upgrade project of Teaninch Distillery in Alness and will work on monitoring of HAZOP (hazard and operability study) action and monitor progress of project to meet deadlines.

Job Description

Due to the continuing growth in Scotch Whisky, Diageo are currently investing £500m in capital expansion projects across Scotland.  As part of the growth agenda, Diageo are planning a major expansion and upgrade of Teaninch Distillery in Alness. 

The Role will involve:

•        Monitoring and Closing out HAZOP Actions (A hazard and operability study (HAZOP) is a structured and systematic examination of a planned or existing process)

•        Technical data collation.  Material data certificates, safety information collation.

•        Project Communications

•        Development of commissioning plan documentation

•        Project Handover Documentation collation

The successful graduate will have the opportunity to work with the Project delivery team from design to commissioning, and gain experience of large scale Project Implementation.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Travel between Teaninch Distillery in Alness and the Malt Distilling office in Elgin will be required for this role, therefore a driving licence and access to a car is essential.


•        Degree in relevant discipline


As part of this TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme, the candidate will benefit from support from a team within Highlands and Islands Enterprise and also access a five day residential course training focussed on employability and business skills.

For the period of the placement, the graduate will be included in the Diageo performance management process – Partners 4 Growth – where he/she will set specific objectives and growth plans for their placement.
