Our client is one of the leading European gas groups, and is the continentÆs 4th largest supplier of natural gas. Based in Leeds, they are the groupÆs UK gas and electricity supply business, with a current annual turnover in excess of ú1bn. They are the 5th largest industrial and commercial energy supplier in the UK, working closely with their French parent and constituting approximately 10% of the multi-billion ú turnover group.
They are looking to recruit two graduate analysts to join the Purchasing and Operations Department.
The Generation Analyst will be responsible for the negotiation of energy, operations and maintenance, and infrastructure contracts with a range of internal and external counterparties and the provision of analytical support for such negotiations. You will collate, forecast and report generation business performance data and key business indicators to senior management.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate sound commercial awareness, excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, and be able effectively to manage workloads and time. A high standard of verbal and written communication is essential for this role, as is the ability actively to participate in both internal and external negotiations. The role will require the successful applicants to work on their own initiative. A high level of numeracy and general proficiency in MS Excel is expected. Prior knowledge of the UK electricity and gas markets would be an advantage.
As a Market Analyst, you will be responsible for the operation and development of analytical models to assist in strategy decisions with regard to the purchase and sale of gas and electricity. As such, you will assist in the development and analysis of our Commercial Strategy, develop management information reporting, build and run ad hoc reports and deliver specific analytical projects. You will also assist in developing and maintaining relationships with other parts of the Group. (E.g. sales, marketing, trading teams etc)
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent numeric and IT skills and fluency in common MS packages. With an inquisitive, analytical mind and possessing good problem solving skills, you will be a self-starter with drive and initiative and an active team player having strong communication skills. A good degree in a numerate discipline is essential and previous modelling experience would be desirable.
