Furniture Design Engineer

Race Furniture leads the field in the design and manufacture of auditorium seating systems. |A unique opportunity has arisen for a Product Design or Engineering graduate to work on a joint project, under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme, between Race Furniture and the University of the West of England which aims to introduce new Design and Engineering methodologies to help the company develop innovative new products that meet the needs of a changing market.|
Employed by UWE but based full time at Race you will work closely with the department for Design and Engineering, under the supervision of academic staff from UWE. Your role will be to lead the development of an in-house design function, allowing the company to innovate in sustainable design and ergonomics and grow into new markets.

|The ideal candidate will have a good degree or postgraduate qualification in Product Design or related discipline, and some experience of professional practice in product design or related engineering/manufacturing area. You’ll be able to demonstrate that you can work on your own initiative and can communicate effectively. The ability to adapt your design skills to the challenges of a small business environment will be an essential requirement. |
